Gómes Hits in 32 Straight Games
Thursday, July 29th, 2032
The Bloomington Longnecks may have proven to be mere mortals today as they lost 12-9 to the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, but César Gómes continued to hit like a god.
The center fielder collected 2 hits in 5 at-bats in the loss and extended his hitting streak to 32 games.
"Gómes is playing great and is on fire right now," Longnecks manager said. "Hopefully his play can spark the rest of our team and help us pick up some wins."
Gómes was apparently not happy with the game and when pressed by reporters in the locker room only said "nothing else matters but the loss." César Gómes grounded out in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
In 41 games Gómes is hitting .359 this season with 51 hits, 4 home runs, 22 RBIs, 16 walks, .423 OBP and has scored 20 runs.
