Red-Hot Vázquez Scorches Plainsmen Friday, July 30th, 2032 Bruins shortstop José Vázquez had his way with Nebraska pitching today at Bellevue Field and mauled them for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Plainsmen ruined his great day by toppling the Bruins, 8-7. "I had a great day, but you've got to give Nebraska credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits." "Oh, we noticed what Vázquez did today," Plainsmen skipper Jack Clayton said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him." José Vázquez struck out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Peter Livengood in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, hit an RBI single in the 9th and singled in the 11th.
