Aviators Lose to Cattlemen, 4-1
|
Ft. Worth starter Armando Romano pitched effectively against the Seattle Aviators at The Cattle Pen. The right-hander led his team to a 4-1 win. The winning pitcher was Romano, now 5-4. He tossed 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 6. Nicholas Wells sewed up the save, his 11th.
The Cattlemen beat the Aviators in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out home run Javier Vázquez produced in the bottom of the third. Batting against Seattle pitcher José Muńóz, Vázquez gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a solo home run.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Ft. Worth manager Scott Thompson. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Cattlemen saw their record improve to 33-35.
