Almost There: Toledo On Cusp of R2033 Triumph After 12-3 Win
|
The Toledo Stingers moved to within one game of the Round 2034 today, downing the visiting Portland Evergreens at Pacesetter Park by a score of 12-3. Stingers first baseman Brett Callison was named player of the game after he was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The win gives the Stingers a - advantage in the best-of- Round 2033.
Tied up with the Evergreens in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Stingers got a boost from right fielder Eugene Clutch. With the bases loaded, Clutch saw a 0-1 curveball from Yoo-chul Mun and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Toledo on top, 5-3.
Callison called the triumph "a good team win."
Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Gerald Keller for Portland and Rob Silva for Toledo.
