Road Win Lifts Tortolita to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The Tortolita Drummers faced a tough opponent in Royse City Targaryens pitcher Currito Melena, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the SL AAA Championship, which they now lead 1-0. The Drummers won 5-3 at Royse City Stadium, despite the Targaryens getting a strong start from right-hander Melena, who went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs.
Yifu Chen's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a curveball from Pedro Tavárez for a 2-run single. It put Tortolita in front, 5-3.
"We did enough to win," said Chen.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Royse City Stadium. Slated to start are Oswaldo Mobray for Tortolita and Earl Farley for Royse City.
