Gibtown Breaks Through for First Win in PL R Championchip; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Gibtown Elephants have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Memphis Music, winning 7-5 at Mammoths Ballpark today. Elephants designated hitter Wren Driscoll was named player of the game after he was 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. The win cuts the deficit facing the Elephants to 2-1 in the best-of-5 PL R Championchip.
Víctor Alfonso's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a cutter from Zach Pae for a run-scoring single. It put Gibtown in front, 6-5.
"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Alfonso.
Game 4 is set to be played tomorrow. Slated to start are Mario Sánchez for Gibtown and Gilberto Chávez for Memphis.
