Road Win Lifts Brinkley to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
Alejandro Araya and the Brinkley Belugas opened the 3L AAA Championship in brilliant fashion today, traveling to Alaskan and shutting out the host Humpbacks at Sea World 2-0 to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Araya, the Belugas right-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 8 innings of shutout ball.
Araya, a native of Pata de Platano, Costa Rica, was dealing all game. He kept Alaskan hitters off-balance, while giving the Belugas 8 quality innings. Araya threw 94 pitches, allowing 2 hits and striking out 3.
Araya told a Brinkley Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Juan Montoya for the Brinkley Belugas and Laurel Yanny for the the Alaskan Humpbacks.
