Almost There: Las Vegas On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 9-6 Win
The Las Vegas Flamingos moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Vancouver Grey Wolves at The Strip by a score of 9-6. Flamingos second baseman Xavier Hernández was named player of the game after he was 1 for 3 with 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win gives the Flamingos a - advantage in the best-of- Round 1.

Tied up with the Grey Wolves in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Flamingos got a boost from shortstop Ellis Greenham. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Greenham saw a 1-0 fastball from Ray Skipworth and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Las Vegas on top, 5-4.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Greenham told reporters after the game.
