Big Day for Mendoza as Northern Lions BC Down Cattlemen, 8-5
|
A 5-RBI performance from António Mendoza, who is tied for 3rd in the SL with a .325 batting average, helped the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC beat the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, 8-5. Thunder Bay reliever Cherles Gachineiro picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Kyle Buckman absorbed the loss. Anatoly Ivanovich picked up the save, his 15th.
Mendoza contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the seventh. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a run-scoring single. It was one of the critical at-bats that helped Thunder Bay get the win.
In postgame comments to the Thunder Bay Citizen, Mendoza said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Northern Lions BC' win now puts them at 33-27.
