Thrice as Nice: Philadelphia 1776 Seizes - Advantage With Late Win
|
Northern Virginia center fielder Count Dante pounded Philadelphia 1776 pitchers at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum, but it was not enough to keep the Rainbow Mermaids from losing in a walk-off. The BC fell 5-4 in Game of the Silver League Championship. Dante was 3-7 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Rainbow Mermaids slip into a - tie in the best-of- series.
Late in the game, shortstop Mikko Haataja had a big at-bat for Philadelphia 1776. In the bottom of the 15th, he hit a run-scoring single off Ricardo García. The play gave the BC a 5-4 lead.
"This was a good win," said Haataja.
