Abbott Rips Chicago for 5 Hits
|
BC center fielder Kelvin Abbott had his way with Chicago pitching today at Gold Sox Field and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Gold Sox ruined his great day by toppling the BC, 6-5.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Chicago credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Abbott did today," Gold Sox skipper Greg Diersing said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
Kelvin Abbott singled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Jesús Franco in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
This year Abbott has collected a .303 batting average to date with 43 hits in 142 at-bats, 17 RBIs, 4 home runs and scored 19 times. He has played in 43 games.
