Flores Excels, But Revolvers Win
|
The Hudsonville Flanderses got a superb performance from first baseman Anastasio Flores. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Santa Fe. The Revolvers won the game, 7-3. In spite of the loss, Flores was named the player of the game. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Santa Fe reliever Hong-yeol Chang picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Cristián Álvarez absorbed the loss. Hudsonville, at 33-43, has lost 4 straight.
Juan Carlos Vázquez, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he connected on a cutter from Cristián Álvarez for a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season put Santa Fe in front, 3-2.
In postgame remarks, Vázquez said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
