Led by an outstanding performance from starter Gao Mar, the Winter Haven Sun Sox topped the Valley View Cougars today by a score of 6-3 at Roadrunners Stadium. The 20-year-old Mar brought his top game to the mound, striking out 15 batters while allowing 6 hits and giving up 2 walks.
"He made a lot of good pitches out there," Cougars manager Reggie Adams said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes."
To this point in the season, Mar shows a 6-0 record, 10 starts, 65.2 innings, 92 strikeouts and a 3.15 ERA.
