Benefiting from Eibe Schmidt's productive game, the Fort Knox Centennial downed the Greenport Harbor Whales, 8-3. Schmidt went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Centennial. José Peña picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-1. Guillermo Pérez was tagged with the loss. The Centennial now have a mark of 48-48.
With one out in the top of the second, Ricardo Varela stroked a go-ahead 2-run single. It was his 35th hit of the season and put Fort Knox in front, 2-0.
Schmidt called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
