Shockers Edge Past Clippers, 5-4

Mean Green Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Surprise Shockers and the San Diego Clippers.
Getting a good performance from left fielder Alfredo Garza, the Surprise Shockers defeated the San Diego Clippers, 5-4. Garza went 4 for 4 with a double and 3 singles for the Shockers. Surprise reliever Ed Mowbray was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Ian There took the loss. Nathan Bernard picked up the save for Surprise, his 12th of the year.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the eighth inning when the Shockers sent teenager António Amaya to the plate against Clippers hurler Ian There. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a triple off a 1-0 cutter to score 2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Garza told the Surprise Daily News.
The Clippers, now 42-45, have lost 4 straight.
