Both teams had their chances, but the Greenport Harbor Whales eventually prevailed at Ballpark of Robbins.
San Diego got a terrific performance from pitcher Ian There, but it wasn't enough to beat the Greenport Harbor Whales. Greenport won the Ballpark of Robbins contest, 3-2. There was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. Motoyuki Ito got credit for the win, improving to 4-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 2 innings.
Jing-quo Sung aided the Greenport cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 4 with a double.
Sung said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The win puts the Harbor Whales at 35-43, while the Clippers drop to 39-39.
