The inspired effort of Ellesmere Island right fielder Anass Balfakir was not enough to prevent a 9-4 loss to the Union City Hillers. Balfakir was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Union City is now 18-13, Ellesmere Island 11-20.

Matsu Yoshida had a big run-scoring single for the Hillers in the top of the second inning. With Union City leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Jorge Oyas and stroked the single to right. It was his 47th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hillers ahead, 3-1.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Yoshida.
