The Ballard Beavers got a stellar performance from pitcher Yong-chul Kim, who handcuffed the Ellesmere Island offense en route to a 4-2 win at Field of the Sunchasers. Kim got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 7 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. Kim allowed 2 earned runs. Earning his 1st save of the year was Rubén Elejarde.
Had Joe James not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, James hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Beavers.
"It feels good to get this one," James told the Ballard Observer.
With the loss, Ellesmere Island is 2-5.
