Submarinos Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Amarillo Submarinos starter Ivano Carbonetti turned in a top-notch performance against the Bompton Baby Lakers at Field of the Browns. The result was a win for the Submarinos, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Carbonetti, now 1-0. He tossed 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Jorge Ochoa earned the save for Amarillo, his 1st of the year.
Amarillo used the timely hitting of Carlos Rivas to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Submarinos on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We take it day by day here," said Rivas, "and today was a good one for us."
Amarillo is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 1st in 4 games.
