Cougars Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Newcastle
|
Valley View Cougars starter Pjotr Melis was in fine form against the Newcastle Mermen at Hillandale Grounds, leading his team to a 6-3 win. Ian Dobson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Joel Plowden was tagged with the loss. Janghyun P'i earned the save for Valley View, his 4th.
Valley View took a 6-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, right fielder Manuel Gonzáles hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"It feels good to get this one," Melis told the Valley View Chronicle.
Valley View has now won 3 straight, while the Mermen have lost 3 in a row.
