Uruguayans Stymie Amarillo, Take 4-0 Win
|
The Germantown Uruguayans picked up a win at Ballpark of Albuquerque, knocking off the Amarillo Warheads, 4-0. Starting pitcher Yajirobei Matsumoto, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Matsumoto went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 2-1. The Uruguayans saw their win-loss record go to 22-29. At the same time, the Warheads fell to 31-20.
The Uruguayans got a big at-bat from left fielder John Shultz. For the game, Shultz was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 9th double of the season gave Germantown a 2-0 lead.
Shultz told a Germantown Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
