Warheads Edge Mermen, 6-5
|
Newcastle third baseman Roberto Díaz had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-5, to Amarillo at Newcastle Stadium. Díaz was 3 for 3 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Carlos Navarro got credit for the save for Amarillo. It was his 1st of the year. Amarillo is now 17-10, Newcastle 13-14.
It could have been a different outcome for Amarillo, had it not been for Tso-i Wang, the 20-year old second baseman . Wang contributed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put Amarillo up, 4-3.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Newcastle manager Marvin Nelson. "The effort was great."
