Casas Touches All the Bases, Hits for Cycle
Valley View Cougars center fielder António Casas hit for the cycle today at Ballpark of Califon but his great game was soured as the Staten Island Pizza Rats went home victors by a score of 10-4.

Casas accomplished the rare feat, chalking up 4 hits -- 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- on his way to finishing 4-for-5 with 2 RBI and 1 run. He told reporters in the postgame press conference that he did not know what he had achieved until he was informed by the Valley View PR staff following the game.

"As long as the game is going, it's hard for me to think about anything but what is on the field," he said. "It's a nice accomplishment, I guess. I wish it had been under better circumstances."

António Casas hit an RBI single in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off José Salinas in the 9th.

Casas is hitting .396 this year with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .508, 9 walks and scored 11 times.
