Big Day for Ayala as Canucks Down Mermen, 8-4
|
The Moose Jaw Canucks knocked off the Newcastle Mermen, 8-4, at Foresters Stadium. José Ayala, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Moose Jaw won. The designated hitter went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2. The Canucks, now 4-8, have not found much traction so far in 2032.
Ramón Padilla, who is tied for 4th in the SR in stolen bases with 4, aided the Moose Jaw cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4 with a walk.
"We maximized our offense today," said Moose Jaw skipper Wynn Burton. "That makes everyone's life easier."
