Canucks Suffer 4-1 Loss to Mermen
|
The rain at Foresters Stadium did not keep Newcastle and Moose Jaw from finishing their game.
Lai-hsiang Loh helped his team muscle past the Moose Jaw Canucks, 4-1. In the game, the Newcastle designated hitter went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 runs. Newcastle reliever Jay Wintle was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Yen-ti Xiang.
Newcastle third baseman Roberto Díaz made his contribution to the Mermen cause with a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning. For the day, Díaz was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Díaz.
The win pushes Newcastle to a record of 7-4.
