Elephants Dispose of Music, 11-3
|
Rain could not dampen the pregame excitement of Memphis fans at Mammoths Ballpark. But the subsequent loss, and a disappointing one at that, to the Elephants had to.
The Gibtown Elephants met little resistance from the Memphis Music, beating them 11-3 at Mammoths Ballpark. Troy Flynn led the way. He went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for Gibtown. Gibtown starter Patrick Nicolas was credited with the win after throwing 118 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 5-1.
Tied up with the Music in the top of the fifth inning, the Elephants got a boost from center fielder Tae-wan Park. With the bases loaded, Park saw a full count fastball from Jian-gun Fei and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Gibtown on top, 5-3.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Park told the Gibtown Today. "You win just by scoring more runs."
Gibtown leads the by 3 games.
