The San Diego Clippers got a superb performance from pitcher Ian There, but the Memphis Music still won the game, 4-3. There was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 9 innings of 8-hit ball. Hildebrand Michielsen got the win, improving to 3-2. He held the Clippers to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Stan Sweeney was credited with the save for Memphis, his 3rd of the season.
Memphis left fielder Augusto Lucero helped the Music to the win. In the top of the fifth inning, the 20-year old shortstop stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Lucero was 2 for 3 with 2 singles.
"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Lucero.
Memphis goes to 32-24, San Diego to 30-26.
