Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Harbor Whales
|
Fans who came to Ballpark of Robbins watched the Greenport Harbor Whales and the Gibtown Elephants fight to the finish.
The Greenport Harbor Whales wiggled past the Gibtown Elephants, 4-3, at Ballpark of Robbins. Greenport pitcher Sammy Harmon earned player of the game honors. Greenport reliever José Gómez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. David Fuentes was saddled with the loss.
Greenport won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and David Fuentes on the mound for Gibtown, center fielder Toby Caunce hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Harbor Whales fans to their feet.
"It was a solid team effort," said Harmon after the game.
Greenport, at 26-30, occupies 7th place in the .
