Anbrosio Mera pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Gibtown Elephants, despite Mera's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Greenport Harbor Whales at Ballpark of Robbins. Ramón Aguilera, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. Greenport occupies 7th place in the at 25-30.
Greenport took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, pinch hitter Bill Chaundler hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"I felt good up there," said Chaundler. "I saw the ball well."
