Shockers Jolt Octopi with Late Rally

The Ogallala Octopi got a superb performance from pitcher Chi-young Zamora, but the Surprise Shockers still won the game, 3-2. Zamora was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Nathan Bernard finished the game for Surprise and earned his 4th save. Surprise is now 22-31, while Ogallala is 31-22.
In the top of the 8th, third baseman Tim Jordan gave Surprise the lead when he hit a 2-run home run. The Shockers had been trailing 2-1, but the two-out home run off Ogallala pitcher Pepe Pereira changed that -- and Surprise went on to win.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Jordan told a Surprise Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
