The Greenport Harbor Whales took San Diego pitcher Jason Huggins's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Mean Green Ballpark. The final score had Greenport getting past the Clippers, 6-1. Huggins went 7.2 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 8. Greenport reliever Chia-kang Xiao was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Jason Huggins. With the win, Greenport has a record of 13-15. San Diego falls to 18-10.
Early in the game, right fielder Jing-quo Sung had a run-scoring double for Greenport. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Harbor Whales on top, 1-0.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Sung told the Greenport Today.
