Hotspur Academy Get Close Win Over Harbor Whales
|
Fans at Ballpark of Robbins were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Greenport Harbor Whales take on the Phoenix Hotspur Academy.
Phoenix starter José Correa had a strong outing against the Greenport Harbor Whales at Ballpark of Robbins. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-4 win. Reliever Jorge Torres picked up the win. His record improves to 2-6. Simon Wolston took the loss.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the ninth inning when the Hotspur Academy sent teenager Pedro Marín to the plate against Harbor Whales hurler Simon Wolston. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-1 curveball to score 2.
"Nice win," said Correa. "Not sure what else you want me to say."
Phoenix is now 8-17, while Greenport is 11-14.
