Hotspur U-21 Slip Past South Beach, 2-1
|
Phoenix right-hander Tim Yoder made an effective start against the South Beach Blaze at Hotspur Kiddie Complex, leading his team to a 2-1 win. Phoenix is now 38-56. South Beach is 50-44.
Phoenix won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Howard Santana on the mound for South Beach, designated hitter Carlos Rodríguez hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Hotspur U-21 fans to their feet.
Afterward, Hotspur U-21 manager Howard Martínez was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
