River Rats Turn Back Chicago, 3-2

Fans who came to Columbia Stadium watched the Columbia River Rats and the Chicago Tula fight to the finish.
Columbia River Rats starter Wei Shan pitched a strong game against the Chicago Tula at Columbia Stadium, leading the River Rats to a 3-2 win. Shan got the win, improving to 7-3. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Shan allowed 2 earned runs. Kit Scheetz earned the save for Columbia, his 20th.
Seika Hagiwara drove in one run for Columbia. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Tex Fountas. It was his 6th RBI of the season.
"This was a good win for us," said Hagiwara. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The River Rats have an impressive 49-23 record.
