Guzzlers Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Galesburg Guzzlers starter Jami Haakana turned in an exceptional performance against the Gwinnett County Black Cats at Pipers Ballpark, resulting in a Galesburg win, 6-2. Haakana went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-7. Ricardo Pérez earned the save for Galesburg, his 2nd of the year.
Galesburg used the timely hitting of Don Pokorski to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put the Guzzlers on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Haakana told the Galesburg Observer.
The 6th-place Guzzlers have won 4 consecutive games.
