Guzzlers Get One-Run Win at Walla Walla
|
The Galesburg Guzzlers racked up a win at Walleye Tank, bumping off the Walla Walla Walleye, 4-3. Robby Oglethorpe, who started for Galesburg, pitched effectively for his team. In 6.2 innings, Oglethorpe surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Getting the save was Mark Zaugg, his 17th.
The Guzzlers beat the Walleye in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Dan Gunther produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Walla Walla pitcher Ids Knegt, Gunther gave his team a 3-1 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Walla Walla manager Rafael Clemente.
The Guzzlers now have a mark of 32-36.
