Chukars Fall to River Rats, 3-0
|
The Columbia River Rats picked up a win at Idaho Falls Park, knocking off the Idaho Falls Chukars, 3-0. On the mound for Columbia was right-hander José Marín, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winning pitcher was Marín, now 6-1. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Kit Scheetz closed the door for Columbia, picking up his 18th save of the year.
With the bases empty and one out in the top of the third inning, left fielder Ken Moore delivered big for the River Rats. Columbia was leading 1-0 when he belted a solo home run.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Marín told the Columbia News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
Columbia goes to 44-22. The win puts them 6 games up in their division.
