Guzzlers Come Back Late, Nip Hotspur U-21
|
Phoenix got a terrific performance from pitcher Eduardo Arroyo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Galesburg Guzzlers. Galesburg won the Hotspur Kiddie Complex contest, 6-5. Arroyo was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Mark Zaugg finished the game for Galesburg and earned his 5th save. With the win, Galesburg has a record of 9-14. Phoenix falls to 10-13.
The Guzzlers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Henk van Aardschot. For the game, van Aardschot went 2-4 with a double. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Galesburg a 6-5 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Guzzlers manager Rickey Burrell. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
