River Rats Defeat Blaze, 8-4
|
South Beach second baseman Bart Goodine had a good game, even if his team did not. The Blaze dropped a 8-4 decision to Columbia at The Ballpark on the Beach. Goodine went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Wei Shan picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 4 in 5.2 innings. Gong Chin closed the door for Columbia, picking up his 1st save of the year.
One of the key players for the River Rats was first baseman Tae-gyoon Ch'oe, who drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning. For the game, Ch'oe was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Ch'oe said. "We did a good job of that today."
Losses have been rare for the Blaze, who are now 12-5.
