Tight Tilt Goes to Blaze, 4-3
|
The South Beach Blaze picked up a win at Walleye Tank, knocking off the Walla Walla Walleye, 4-3. On the mound for South Beach was right-hander Will McLeod, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 6.1 innings, McLeod surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. It was the 11th win in 15 games this year for the defending champion Blaze, who are picking up where they left off.
South Beach designated hitter Rubén Vásquez helped the Blaze to the win. In the top of the fourth inning, the 23-year old third baseman stroked a run-scoring single. For the game, Vásquez went 1-3 with a walk.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said McLeod.
