Black Cats Come Back Late, Nip Hotspur U-21
|
Gwinnett County Black Cats starter Ramón Serrano turned in a sterling performance against the Phoenix Hotspur U-21, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Gwinnett County reliever Ming-hoa Zhou picked up the win to move to 2-0. Felipe Filipe suffered the loss. David Moore earned the save, his 5th.
Curt Taylor had the most critical at-bat for Gwinnett County. With two in the top of the ninth inning, Taylor hit a 1-0 fastball from Felipe Filipe for a run-scoring single. It put Gwinnett County in front, 3-2.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Gwinnett County skipper Kenny Billings.
The win pushes Gwinnett County to a record of 7-5.
