Kieffer Helps Washington Cruise to 14-3 Win
|
The Washington Generals bested the Athletic Club KC U-24 by a score of 14-3, with third baseman Owen Kieffer getting the main credit. On the day, Kieffer went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Generals. Washington reliever Mario Villalobos got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Tom Clark was tagged with the loss. Jeremy Sears sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Kieffer had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the top of the first, when he hit a 2-run double. The Generals went on to win.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Kieffer told the Washington Bulletin.
The Generals now have a mark of 39-45.
