Merritt on Fire, Strikes out 16 Expos
|
Valley Blue Sox starter Jeff Merritt brought his best stuff to The Heron Refuge today against the Niagara Falls Expos, striking out 16 batters in his club's 4-3 victory.
In a strong performance, the 22-year-old Merritt gave up 6 hits in his 8 innings of work and issued 2 walks.
"I felt good out there," he said after the game. "My fastball had a lot of life and my change up was sharp. It was giving hitters fits and working well for me."
To date this year, Merritt shows a 7-2 record, 9 starts, 69 innings, 101 strikeouts and a 2.09 ERA.
