The Washington Generals topped the Valley Blue Sox by the score of 7-6, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Owen Kieffer. Kieffer went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Generals on the day. Washington reliever Augusto Morín picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Matt Caldwell absorbed the loss. Washington is now 30-32. Valley is 33-29.
Kieffer had a game-changing single in the top of the seventh. On a full count changeup from Matt Caldwell, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Generals a 7-6 lead. It was the 62nd hit of the year for Kieffer.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Valley manager Willis Crawford. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
