Valley left-hander Stan Wells pitched his team to victory over the Connetquot Chiefs at The Big Teepee. The final score was 4-3. Wells, the winner, moves to 5-1. He threw 7.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. Bob Kennedy finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Had Stuart Janssen not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Janssen hit a 2-run double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Blue Sox.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Wells said after the game.
Valley is now riding a 4-game win streak.
