The Valley Blue Sox picked up a win at ACKC Youth Field, knocking off the Athletic Club KC U-24, 3-1. Starting pitcher Dale Snider played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Snider, now 2-4. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. Keith Johnson finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
The Blue Sox got a big at-bat from right fielder Melvin Daniels. For the game, Daniels was 1 for 4. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 8th hit of the season gave Valley a 1-0 lead.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Daniels.
Valley is now riding a 6-game win streak.
