Both teams had their chances, but the Delaware 1787 BC eventually prevailed at Carrier Field.

The Grim Reapers got a superb performance from center fielder Harlan Thompson. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Delaware. The 1787 BC won the game, 7-6. In spite of the loss, Thompson was named the player of the game. He was 2-2 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. Delaware reliever Abakada Mana was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Finley Berose took the loss for Grim. Amando Codes earned the save for Delaware, his 9th of the year.

Had Tobias Jimenez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Jimenez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the 1787 BC.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Jimenez said.

Delaware leads the Silver A by 2½ games.
