Sjelle Matena pitched well, but the Valley Blue Sox still lost the game, falling 1-0 to the Niagara Falls Expos at The Heron Refuge. Niagara Falls starter Fernando Romero was credited with the win after throwing 90 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-3. Niagara Falls bumps their record to 12-13 with the win.

Alfonso Pacheco drove in one run for Niagara Falls. The 20-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Sjelle Matena. It was his 9th RBI of the season.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Pacheco told the Niagara Falls Chronicle.
