Washington left-hander Manuel Paílla made an effective start against the Yellowknife Dragonblood at The Dragon Den, leading his team to a 3-0 win. Paílla, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 14, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Sherman Harrison finished the game for Washington and earned his 2nd save.
Had Sinclair Bothof not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 1st, Bothof hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Generals.
"We'll savor this win," Paílla told the Washington Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
The loss lowers the Yellowknife record to 1-3.
