The Syracuse Storm got a superb performance from pitcher Ken French, but the Nebraska Plainsmen still won the game, 4-3. French was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 8 innings allowing 3 runs. Dong-soo Yun, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1 innings. The Plainsmen have an impressive 59-35 record.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Charles Mackey hit a 2-1 fastball from Manuel Montero for a run-scoring double. It put Nebraska in front, 4-3.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Mackey said.
